ARTIST’S LOFT PRINT SERIES FOR SALE

Last summer I freelanced as Production Assistant for a photo shoot which took place on location at this artist’s loft. The artist was a painter and a friend to the photographer on the job. During the downtime, I explored this quite interesting space. It wasn’t a big space, but this particular painter crammed all sorts of goodies, nick nacks, funiture, etc all around his “work-in-progress” paintings. I definitely took advantage and shot these beautiful detail shots of his work space.

So you’re in the backseat of the car and there is one that normally happens: you fall asleep. Well, I had my camera on me so I did some shooting experiments. I came up with these beautiful images of the skyline and the lights that line the landscape. Painting with light is one of the coolest things you can do with a camera!

Check them out in my Etsy Store: WorkingTitle/Gally 3940

So I decided to bring these photos into Black & White and put them together as a series. These are old, vintage signs that are still up and in use by their business owners around the Dallas, Texas area. I just love these signs and started to photograph them. It might be a bit clichè to see them in Black & White, but I kind of loved it.

MORE VINTAGE SIGNS!

I have noticed that a lot of original signage is used by businesses here in the local Dallas area. Some establishments look sketchy while others have moved on with the times, but decided to hold on to their wonderfully dated business sign. It is a part of their history and a testament to their lasting presence as a successful business through many high and low economic times.

This is the sign for Sowell Beer & Liquor Store. As with Womack I am not quite sure if this place is still in business, but the sign is still there!

I plan to continue to search these business signs out and keep shooting them.

This is the sign for Sunshine Laundry Cleaning. This place is still in business and actually just moved across the street into a brand new building. The one thing they didn’t replace? Their signature original vintage sign.

I plan to continue to search these business signs out and keep shooting them.

This is a series that I’m working on.  Searching out and finding all the old vintage signs through the North Dallas area.  It is amazing that some businesses still use their original signage!

My mother and I were driving home from my Aunt’s house when I spotted this life sized bird mobile sculpture placed randomly in this open lot. I think the city of Dallas has done a lot to place art in unexpected places. I liked this mobile sculpture and snapped a shot of it looking straight up.
